Who we are

Striving to make a difference

We are Dominik & Jess Uhlig, the husband and wife team behind Green Food Australia. Having travelled the country in 2017, we saw first hand how to live resourcefully, cherishing our gas/water/power/food resources; we also saw how incredibly difficult it was to dispose of waste without a fixed address.

Returning to our home in Tropical North Queensland, it was mind-blowing to see how we used to live through the actions of others. From taps running too long, lights being left on, power running mindlessly and food being prepared and discarded like it meant nothing.

The shutdown of 2020 allowed us to research ways in which not only we could make a difference individually, but through our employment venue, Salsa Bar & Grill. Owners Rhys & Bill are constantly striving to innovate their business and find new ways to reduce their carbon footprint, the establishment of Green Food Australia was next to come and the collaboration between commercial vendors & growers became a circular environment. What was grown and sold to the restaurant, is used and any waste is converted back into XLR8ยฎ Bio and put back into the soil upon which it is grown.

And this is the just the beginning โ€ฆ
